Hancock County Parkinson’s Network Donation Policy
At Hancock County Parkinson’s Network, we are committed to supporting individuals and families affected by Parkinson’s disease through education, resources, and advocacy. Donations play a crucial role in enabling us to continue our mission, and we value transparency and accountability in the use of these contributions. This donation policy outlines the guidelines for accepting, managing, and using donations to ensure responsible stewardship of donor funds.
1. Types of Donations Accepted
We gratefully accept the following types of contributions:
Monetary Donations: Cash, checks, credit/debit card payments, and electronic transfers.
In-Kind Donations: Goods or services that can benefit the operations or programs of the Hancock County Parkinson’s Network.
Planned Giving: Bequests, life insurance, retirement assets, or other planned gifts.
Sponsorships: Financial support from businesses or organizations for events, programs, or initiatives.
2. Donation Designations
Unrestricted Donations: Donations without specific designation will be applied where they are needed most to support our mission and general operations.
Restricted Donations: Donors may designate their gifts for specific programs, initiatives, or projects. We will honor such designations, provided they align with the organization’s mission and capacity.
3. Donation Receipts
All donors will receive a formal receipt acknowledging their donation. The receipt will include the amount or description of the in-kind donation and confirmation that no goods or services were provided in exchange unless otherwise stated. Hancock County Parkinson’s Network is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, and all monetary donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
4. Use of Donations
All donations will be used to further the mission of the Hancock County Parkinson’s Network. This may include funding programs that provide education, outreach, support groups, and advocacy for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. Administrative and operational expenses essential to sustaining our programs may also be funded through donations.
5. Donor Privacy
We are committed to protecting the privacy of our donors. Personal information collected during the donation process will be used solely for processing contributions, sending donation receipts, and communicating updates on the organization’s work. We will not share or sell donor information with third parties without explicit consent.
6. Refund Policy
Donations are non-refundable except in cases of error or extenuating circumstances. If a refund is requested, it must be submitted in writing within 30 days of the donation date. Refunds will be processed on a case-by-case basis.
7. Donor Recognition
We recognize and appreciate all donations. Donors may be acknowledged in our annual reports, newsletters, or event materials unless they request anonymity. Donors who prefer to remain anonymous can indicate this preference at the time of donation.
8. Board Approval for Third-Party Fundraising
Any fundraising efforts or events conducted by third parties on behalf of the Hancock County Parkinson’s Network must receive prior approval from the Board of Directors. This includes, but is not limited to:
Third-Party Fundraising Events: Individuals or organizations wishing to host events or campaigns to raise funds for the Network must submit a formal proposal outlining the fundraising plan, including goals, methods, and expected outcomes.
Use of Logo and Branding: The use of the Hancock County Parkinson’s Network name, logo, or branding materials in any third-party fundraising efforts must be pre-approved by the Board. Unauthorized use is strictly prohibited.
Compliance with Mission and Values: All third-party fundraising efforts must align with the values and mission of the Hancock County Parkinson’s Network. The Board reserves the right to deny any fundraising proposals that conflict with our mission or could negatively impact our reputation.
9. Changes to the Donation Policy
Hancock County Parkinson’s Network reserves the right to amend this donation policy as necessary. Any changes will be communicated to donors and reflected in future policy documentation.
